HB Speed or RRE
HB Speed or RRE
Moving to LA in ten days. I want to get retuned when I get there, due to altitude difference and availability of a professional tuner.
I know both are very good and reputable tuners for our platform, which makes my decision hard. Trying to find tuner for the future, when I add my stock trim turbo upgrade. BBX or Red as of right now
Gonna be in San Fernando Valley, so just a tad further to HB Speed, but who cares.
I know RRE does ECUtech so it will cost $750, while HB Speed only charges $400.
What is my benefit from ECUtech over ECUflash?
Give me reasons to go either way. Constructive comments are welcome.
Thank you,
Chris

I would say go to RRE. They've always treated me well and they're a great shop and their tunes are strong and reliable. Plus they seem willing to stay open odd hours to accomodate folks.
You can pretty much get tuned by anyone here in So Cal for $400 (ECUflash). Tons of places to choose from but RRE would get my vote.
And I would say just go with ECUflash. If your future build is big and complex then maybe ECUtek may be worthwhile, but for now ECUflash is just fine.
PM if you have any other questions...I've had 2 Evo 8's and have been tuned by RRE (dyno tune), Tuning Tech (dyno tune), Looney Tuning (road tune), and C-Spec Tuning (dyno tune) over the past several years and misc builds, so I have plenty of experience with all of their tunes and service work.

just got tuned by hb speed about a month ago....i was in same boat..hb speed owns and races evo x's...they have most expetience with evo x..which is why i drove from san diego,ca to fountain valley,ca to get tuned....customer service was excellent!!! highly recommend hb speed!!
RRE gets my vote. I drove from Monterey, CA to get tuned by Mike W. He stayed open WAY past normal business hours for my custom tune. BTW, just be aware that RRE uses a Dynapack dyno with is a hub-mounted dyno. So if that matters....
But either way, Mike will give you a safe, and reliable tune if that's what you want.
They are also the tuner of choice for one of Modified Mag's Evo Xs.
Otherwise, GST up in NorCal.

We have tuned over 160 Evo X, have one of the fastest street tire time attack Evo x in the Country, even RRE's tuned cars cant come close.....
Mike @ RRE is a good dude and will do a great job on the car, just as we will.
