MR cruise afr's Cobb protune
I have a 2008 MR that has been protuned by Cobb Plano. I have noticed that at cruise on the highway at aprox 60-80mph (I-10 through Texas has a speedlimit of 80) my afr's are reading really rich. I typically see them hovering around 13.7-14.5, but sometimes dipping close to 12.5 as I approach 3-5 lbs of vaccum. . Is this normal on the X MR? I know on my self tuned IX, I would be around 14.7 during highway cruise. I had the car dynoed at Cobb during a recent dyno day and my AEM Uego AFR's are spot on with their innovative at WOT. I have cleaned the MAF, upgraded the fuel relay, zip tied the FPR tubing, pressure tested the system for boost leaks. I just don't know if the way the MR runs i.e load is making me switch over to the open loop maps at highway speed. I can also lightly feather the gas and get the AFr's closer to 14.7 with 10 lbs of vaccum, but as soon as I attempt to maintain a speed, they drop. It also does this with the cruise set on flat roads.
Quick rundown of mods
-AMS SRI
-3 port boost controller
-AMS upper and lower intercooler piping
-AMS turboback exhaust with testpipe
-AP with protune

BTW, I hate logging with the AP, so much easier with Evoscan

Calvin is very responsive to minor adjustments post tune, as long as you give him the info he needs. So do this.
At cruise, using your AP (or laptop if you are set up for it) log the following at the cruising speed you want the car to stay in closed loop.
Vehicle speed, load fuel (or load boost, I forget what cobb calls it), rpm, boost.
Send this log to Calvin and ask him to adjust your open loop table so the car switches to open loop just above the load at wich you are cruising at xx MPH.
Keep in mind that even after doing so for you, since he will likely set the value very close, you will likely transition from closed to open loop when you go up hills. This may make the afr's go rich a bit when you do so (like they are now), but you really want it to add fuel when you add the load here.
actually, send the log to me and I'll make sure Calvin handles it.

I was thinking it was going into open loop at whatever load I am at in that MPH range, I was just wondering if other MR drivers was experiencing this as well. I mentioned it to Calvin at the dyno day, but he was preoccupied lol. I will send you the log Kevin, I just didn't want to bother you guys if it was something that was common. I am getting ready to drive to Seattle and any little bit will help.

Quick update, I logged early this morning and sent a log off to Kevin and Calvin. I was sent back an updated map in which the crossover point from closed loop to open loop was raised just a touch. It was enough to fix my issue completely. Calvin is on the ball once again and was quick to reply. I just drove approx 100 miles to test it out and it works like a charm and I even picked up 3 mpg. I went from 23mpg to 26mpg. Granted this is just over 100 miles, so it may change. I did this manually, not using the onboard computer so it should be pretty valid.
Excellent! The Cobb guys in Plano are a model of how service should be. When I was up there earlier in the year, Calvin went way beyond the call of duty. They should give him a raise. Or an Evo.
Hey so monitoring it on and off all week:
The above doesnt happen to me at the speed. Stayed in close loop.
I do however notice it happening at lower speed slow acceleration for a few seconds it pops into open and then back... but nothing at 80mph.
