Help me get the most of my tune

Hi all,

Recently got my Evox SST its first power mods, aka ETS High Flow Cat, Silent Exhaust, ETS UICP and a Cosworth Panel filter.

Also got a tune done on the car, as the garage have a dyno (DJ) in house and I thought that its the best way to maximise gains.

Further research however suggests that this may not be a great tune, and a number of posters on another forum have commented on the "bad" curves.

I am gonna have another go with the tuner, and am hoping to make a list of the key outcomes that I need to achieve with the re-tune.

From what I have learnt so far,

1. Smooth out the spike/dip in the HP curve
2. Have a smoother curve all the way to redline.

Questions to you-

1. Is the max tq of 350 too high for the SST? Should I ask for this to be brought down? to what levels? I want the car to be ultra strong, as I DD this car and occassionally track it.

2. This is a graph on 4th gear, tuned at 1.4 bar. Do the numbers vary a lot depending on weather the car is dynoed on 4 or 3 gear?

3. Any other tips for a noob who does not wish to see his tranny end up in a pile of metal shavings..?

4. The consistent AFR across most of the power band was 12.0- 12.2 (after about 3.5k rpm) . Is this too lean? I notice that many people tune their cars to run consistently below 12 AFR?

BTW, the tune was done with all the parts brand new, just installed. Will the wear in period make any difference?

Also, the tuner informed me that there were absolutely no knocks during the logging process- we made 4 runs.

Thanks all for your comments.

FE.

There is no break in for any of those parts... maybe the cat, but not in regards to how it makes anything else on the car work.

Big torque spikes on the MRs is a no-no as far as I understand. That boost curve needs to be pulled back, and from what I've seen alot of MR owners actually delay the torque peak past max VE to help soften the blow to the tranny. Torque is what will kill the clutch pack, not HP.

AFR seems lean to me, but maybe it has leaned out since the panel filter was put on (if the LTFTM changed).

I'm not sure I would just keep going back to that tuner.... a little more work on the front end but I would think a mail in from someone who knows what they are doing is better than a dyno tune from someone who doesn't.... but then again I wouldn't pay someone to turn 8 bolts and pop in a new filter either.

would be much more helpful if you had a graph vs. RPM and not speed.

but yeah, that torque curve is sketchy. here's what it should look like:
