Question Confused Newbie / Need help regarding Wideband installation

Hello guys, I own a 2011 GSR, purchased a few bolt-ons and after being advised by many members here to purchase a wideband, I pulled the trigger on the expensive sucker (AEM UEGO).

Anyhow, so from what I understand (for whatever reason) Mitsubishi decided to package our cars with a narrowband AFR sensor. Therefore, in order to better monitor how our AFR is doing, we need a wideband AFR sensor. I get that.

But if our ECU is configured to read NB only, then how do you make it understand WB? Mind you, I do not own ECUFlash or AP, any of those reflashing programs. I've read on some threads that you could effectively disable the narrowband sensor, but if there is no AFR sensor being seen by the ECU, then I'm pretty sure that car will not run.

Please help!

The wideband is a standalone sensor. It does not need to be plugged into the ECU. All you need is a extra bung pre-cat.

hey, I'm interested in how your install goes.... can you post up some pics/details as you go along?

I know I can search, but following someone's install is more fun

My first time doing WB install and I followed this thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...nsor-bung.html

Worked out great. As far as running the cable to the cabin I can post pics of my cable route if need be. There is actually pics of different cables routing on this forum.

The sensor you remove/disable is the secondary sensor that is only checking catalytic efficiency.

Some wideband sensors can simulate the input of the narrowband sensor to the factory ECU if you want it to replace the primary sensor also... but this often works with less than ideal results. Zeitronix and the LC-1 seem to do OK with this though.
