i can not read a evo X. Help

last weekend i tryed to read my friend's new evo X. i take my 2.0 tactrix cable, my laptop (used to reflash another evo 8 and 9) and the ecuflash version 1.4

I have never read an evoX before. And I did the same as other times...Plug the tactrix cable (did not find the small flash connector), open ecu flash, do the reading process, select the mitsu can vehicles, read button, ignition and OK

The ecuflash try to read, do 3 attempts and then says can not read.

Then i tryed to log the car with evoscan version 2.7, select all the options for EvoX, push the start datalogger and conect..but can not read anything, because is like the conection goes and comes, the connection screen is flickering between green and yellow

Can anyone tell me if i'm doing something wrong?

has the EvoX wideband like the Subaru GRB to log it for tune?

is a pre tuned vehicle? you might need to bench it.

no wideband for the Evo X Gotta install your own...

For logging make sure you have evo X ecu selected and *not* mode23 (unless you have enabled it).

As tephra said you will probably need to bench if you can't connect to the car's ECU, but you can always try updating your version of ecuflash to the beta first.

Are you sure it is a standard SE and not a special FQ model or anything? I remember reading that all of the FQ roms were locked from the factory.

Also, just to clarify the problem that you are having, can you please post the log from when you try to read it?

Well
today i tryed again...I can log with evoscan 2.7
Then i upgrade to the ecuflash beta version...and i tryed again, but with the same result

The car is a Evo X 2009-2010 SST MR...i think EDM version, but i can not confirm it.
THe log is something like "no request know code" is like the ecuflash does not know the evo X code

perhaps the ecu is locked because this is the most special (and expensive) version in Spain. This car has all the extras from factory, including BBS forged wheels

Well, you didn't post the log, but with the error you are getting I'd bench it if you want to tune it. You won't be able to see / recover the tune on it, but at least you'll be able to flash it.

Obviously I don't take responsibility if something goes wrong since we don't know much about the ECU you are trying to get into.

That was pretty broken English, but I think you are asking if you can buy a used ECU to work on the car? I assume if you know the correct ROM for the car you should be fine to buy one from a similar market... the dealer will have to program your immobilizer since it is now stored in a separate module.

hrmmm..... it should work..

my advice would be to bench the ECU (google for ECU Bench process or something like that)

get the ROM and send it to me for a comparison against a known stock ROM...

then we can find out if the ROM/ECU is blocking you, or if its a laptop/op20 issue...

Ohhh... you can get a guaranteed read on the bench too? Cool!
