Stock exhaust

hey guys, i was just wondering how restrictive is my stock exhaust? i have a 2011 gsr and i want to stay with stock exhaust, NEEDS to be quitet. i have a buschur intercooler and piping, fpred, o2 housing, test pipe and dp. i am getting ready to tune the car and was wondering what you guys think is going to be my HP output with stock vs aftermarket exhaust, again for now i absolutely must stay with stock exhaust. please let me know what you think.

Please search... I'm pretty sure there are quite a few threads on this.

There is a dyno chart for one of the other Buschur Exhausts here.
https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...9c4482913ceb99

Every car is different, every car will make different hp on different exhausts. The general consensus is that the stock cat-back is not terribly restrictive (but the forward parts are). One thing it is, is heavy... having that weight hanging off the back of the car is a big deal if you like to turn.

I still run the factory catback on my 2010 RA sportback. It's actually a little more restrictive then the Evo X catback as it has a pretty large kink in the pipe that goes under the rear diff.

I have a 02 DP and a test pipe with mini muffler (UR). The car is literally not ANY louder then stock and it makes 370whp on the GST mustang dyno, so over 400 hp on a dynojet.

The car is currently making 178 whp over stock. So to answer your question, yes you can make good power with the stock catback.

You can read more about it here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/09...sportback.html

Bryan, would a 2010 exhaust fit on your RA?

Reason is that it would still look stock and would flow better. Plus you could probably get a stock X catback for free.

I already tried.

The inlet bends the opposite way and the Evo 10 mid pipe has a different bend that won't clear the rear diff assembly on the RA.

Here is the stock RA muffler and midpipe. It's a bit hard to see the kink in the pipe in this image but it's there. (It's on the upper side, not the bottom facing the ground) You can also see the inlet comes in from the left, where on the Evo 10 it comes in from the right.

Oh.. your rear A arms are narrower than ours. The RA must use the same length A arms. Well, it's not actually an A arm, but you get what I mean.

Yea the diff carrier is not as wide. The arms themselves are longer and stamped steel.

Also, the rear sway bar goes OVER the diff instead of behind it and towards the bumper like the X. Which also makes it a bit more involved of a install. Which is probably why my whiteline rear sway bar has been sitting in my garage for 5 months now.

Im running a 3" ichiba test pipe plus a 3" midpipe to a 2011 stock muffler, no dyno numbers but honestly it feels the same when I was running the perrin catback with testpipe. This setup also sounds great, really deep, you know its there, but no highway drone like the perrin which got old fast.

^---- This.

It's a night and day difference between my 08 and '11. Even on my 08 switching exhausts on the stock frame going from tune to tune, I barely made anything. Wasn't worth the $1100 in exhaust I spent.

With a bigger turbo it will make a little more difference, but I wouldn't expect the world. IMO there are other mods you can do for cheaper and better gains. Honestly I'd rather do cams than exhaust.

The '11 exhaust sounds so grunty, I couldn't imagine it being any louder.
