2011 GSR Brake Boosting

Is anyone familiar with the 2011 GSR's not being able to brake boost? It feels as the ECU is going into a safe mode and closing the throttle plate as soon as the brake pedal is touched. The accelerator pretty much shuts off and I can not build any boost at all . Any input would be really appreciated on how to fix this issue.

Brake boosting is a technique that's usually employed for automatic T/C cars, isn't it? Or am I missing something here?

I'm guessing the OP is trying to use it for roll-on races.

I have a 2011 GSR and I know exactly what you are talking about. I was planning on asking about this to see if ASC needs turned off or not for this to work. I have not logged the phenomenon yet but no CEL is produced and I have the usual DTC etc. disabled. I suspect it’s more a traction control issue than anything. Have you logged it to know it’s definitely closing the throttle plate? My other thought is the possibility of needing to adjust the air flow maps... I only tried it twice back to back and instead of pissing with it too much I stopped and didn’t think to hold to ASC Off button for 3 seconds at the time.

For the weary moderators, I am looking into this for dialing my fuel maps without having spool up latencies affecting my wideband readings to where I end up with an over rich fuel map and has nothing to do with "street racing" as mentioned above.

So, has anyone had experience with this situation to give us some insight?

A lot of DBW cars are doing this now in response to Toyota's big recall; hit the brakes and the throttle automatically shuts.

I've tried turning ASC and S-AYC off and no luck.

I can get a couple seconds initially holding the boost then the car falls on its face so it doesnt seem to exactly be that... but who knows maybe it is it just needs a couple second tigger over a certain limit then it kicks in.

It would be nice to disable it. I got a nice rich spot in my fuel map compensating for the fast stock turbo spool then higher gears are considerably richer. It would be nice to get a lot of data in one log to save time and reflashing.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is related to the Toyota recall. But there has to be some way to disable this safety feature in the ECU.

It could be related to Toyota, but there is a more plausible / historical answer (in my mind).

The car goes into fuel cut when you are off the gas for a certain amount of time. That time is determined by a "timer" that decays a different amount based on how [hard] you were driving the car before that. Hitting the brakes puts a big amount of decay on that timer from my driver's seat observation, but I haven't looked at that in the code. I think this may be your problem but I'm not sure.

Does this affect earlier models? I would guess that if it was a response to the Toyota gas pedal debacle (which ended up being unreproducible, right?) earlier models like the '08 wouldn't have this issue. Can you safely flash an '11 to an earlier ROM, say from '08?

I'm positive this doesn't affect the 08 models.

Hold the traction control button for 3+ seconds tell ayc brake turns off and you can do it (how do i know this? because ive done it) but why do you need to do it...street racing is bad!

I've been planning to try this because I was pretty positive this was the reason but I keep forgetting since I baby my car all the time.

And I clearly stated the use I intend in my response above, not everything outside the "norm" around here has a "street race" relation...
