Rich, bits work the other way. 00000001 is bit 0, i.e. 2^0. 00001000 is bit 3, 2^3 or 8 or 0x08.

Heel-toe is still do-able, just brakes plus WOT for about 2 seconds and the car just falls on its face.

Funny, that's the way I've always referred to them too. I wonder if the M32R assem stuff is flipping the 0-7 reference? I don't have the doc in front of me now, but I seem to recall that assembler instruction manual referencing bits with a "1 rolled left by (7-bit)"! If so, I'll have to translate from my disassembled text file to sane-techie speak.

Or perhaps it's simpler than that - perhaps I've just gone completely mad reading all this code.

I'm still rummaging around, in between doing a few other ROM-related things.

I've found a few new interesting bits on the way, but no smoking gun with this issue. If it happened on my car, I'm sure I'd have sussed it by now, as it would help to be able to reproduce it while logging the various throttle calcs at point A, B, C, D... That way I could zero in on where it was actually happening without having to be a real genius.
