first time evo owner- what is this?
I bought a EVO x with 29k miles yesterday and snooping around i found this , can anyone tell me what its for? the car has a aem air fuel ratio meter and a defi boost gauge which neither are working. is this to log and tune? is this proof that the car is indeed tuned . confirming my guess after seen the ams performance sticker. thank you for your time

That will most likely be used to log you AFR. Doesnt necessarily mean your tuned, but it does mean that it can be tuned/monitored safely now.
Stickers add 5 whp. That is probably why you have a AMS sticker.

The stickers can add up to 10 whp depending on the amounts and size. I think I'm going to add underglows to mine cause they can add almost 15 whp if installed properly and depending on the color.
thanks. Now another nubish question. you see that little lip thing in the middle of the front stock bumper? the one that pops off? what is that called? mines seem to have fallen off or something so id like to replace it. thanks

I'm really sick of the whole "stickers add 5 whp" silliness. Some people reading these threads might actually fall for this and then we're all embarrassed by slow and stickered-up Evo Xs. So, let's try to be less amusing and a little more useful. In that vein, let me say this to any lurkers who are tempted to add one or more stickers to their car: "Stickers have to be tuned! If you just add a bunch of stickers and don't get the car tuned, you might actually end up slower than before."
ps. some of us are old enough to have laptops with db-9 serial ports; may I respectfully point out that tuning via a USB-to-serial converter, instead of just plugging the serial cable into a true serial port, costs you at least 10 whp

I found out what it is, I forgot the name already lol but apperantly when you get a lip you have to remove it to install the lip. I'm thinking the previous owner parted out what he could before trading in the car and that was most likely one of the pieces he removed.
