Cruise Control

I have a question for the ECU experts here.

Is there anyway to "unlock" the cruise control so it can be activated above 80mph? I hate that practically every other sports car in the world that has cruise control allows it to be set at any speed, but Subaru and Mitsubishi don't allow you to use it above 80mph. Stupid.

It would be extremely useful to me for racing to be able to set it higher than 80mph.

I have actually never used cruise control on my car, interesting that it doesn't work above 80.

This must be something new for the 2010+ Evo X's as my 2008 works at any speed. I wonder if this has something to do with the whole run-away car thing and why the 2010s can't brake boost.

Saw this yesterday and had to test this morning, cruise control works just fine above 80 in the 2010 Ralliart, I dont see why it would be different for the Evo. I see the OP has an MR, The SST does have to be in Normal mode to engage cruise control, it doesnt work in Sport mode.

Let me guess as to the type of auto racing that uses cruise control: the new driving portion of the Special Olympics.

I'll test it this weekend on an interstate, but I'm pretty sure I did it at 85 *once*

I'm so used to my Evo 8 not having cruise control when I had it I never use it on my X...

Strange it would not work above a certain speed.

Ah ha! I was in sport mode. I forgot that cruise doesn't work in sport mode. Thanks.

It's a rally style race divided in to average speed classes. Last time I ran the 105mph class which means I have to have an average of exactly 105mph for 90 miles, and for much of the course a cruise control would have been helpful to hold average speed. There is also an unlimited class that allows you to go as fast as possible (last weekend someone averaged 217mph over the 90 miles) but requires a metric crap ton of safety equipment to run.

Think of it as a TSD run on closed highways at fast speeds.

The idea of using cruise control instead of a computer for a time/distance event is still worth a giggle, but not quite the LOL that I had assumed.

Good luck.
