Having problems with COBB SF Intake!

So, long story short, I have a xle cobb bpv (personal preference) and the cobb sf intake. I am having problems with idling. When my fan starts going on the radiator, my rpm's drop to 500-800 and will sputter. When my fans don't run, it idles just fine. Has anyone had any problems with yours? of course my check engine light turned on as a vacuum leak and that was taken care of, but it also showed a random misfire. Is there any advice what to do?!

Take a picture of your engine bay with the intake. Sounds like a common problem with intakes that don't have a heat shield.

When the fans kick in the air blowing into your intake causes the idle spike problems.

There are threads on the forms about this.

heat shield issue, had the same problem with my ets before I put the shield on....the fan blows hot air directly on the filter element which causes the idle bounding.

I just saw a photo of putting the front of the stock intake infront of the cobb one works really well. I think I will temporarily fo that until I get a different one. Any thoughts on the K&H?

I would get some sheet metal and fabricate a heat shield. The sudden hot air from the fans entering the intake is throwing off the maf.
