And, to further put it in perspective, many guys with just an intake, TBE and tune on a IX are running low 12s.

The X will get there...but it's the weight that holds it back.

But, you need more mods on the IX to get to the 350-360whp power level (although it's very easy to get to this number on the stock turbo). Unless you significantly reduce weight in the X, the IX will always be much faster at the same power level.

So, pick your poison. Spend money (and sacrifice the creature comforts you bought the X for) to reduce weight in the X, or spend money on mods for the IX.
Pheww a realist!!!Not... ??? What are you talking about. Whatever the hp is. The fact is this. The X ran a 12.6 with a tune and exhaust, (with out the 02 housing), with a bad launch restricted by the rev limiter. Whatever the hp is the car ran a 12.6 with a tune and exhaust. Put a tune and exhaust on an IX, should be around the same times. Yes the X is making more power, but beause of the added weight it slows it down. Its kinda a toss up, because yea you can do mods to an IX but it wont give you as big as gains as the x, but on the other hand the X weighs more so those addes gains your getting, get counter balanced a little. Either way 12.6 with a tune, and exhaust, and bad launch is good for any evo period.

Look...I'm not starting an argument, so chill. I'm simply putting this in perspective. Many guys are on this thread thinking that 12.6 is the best damn thing...when in reality it really isn't. Just the truth.

Stock IXs can run high 12s. It's been done many, many times at different tracks across the country.

IXs are running low 12s (some even high 11s with a good driver) with tune, TBE and intake. So, basically same mods (and less power in the IX) as Vishnu's X, yet still a half second faster which is an eternity on a drag strip. Check the Drag Racing forum and you'll see all the countless times a IX has hit those numbers.

Despite the impressive gains of the X, the weight kills it when compared to it's older brother. That will get figured out with creative ways to lose weight or spending more money on more go-fast parts. It's the reality of the situation.

By the way, sorry Vishnu. I'll stop posting in this thread and will possibly start a new thread using your 1/4 time if you don't mind me using it. Let me know. I don't want to clog up your thread. Thanks!

i will never understand the 0.1 sec-0.5 sec debates, in 1/4 miles.
For me is a useless info, specially the car its made for go to the twistyes in mind...
the friggin exige S has less hp then the evo IX... so the exige S a bad car?
Leave those hp numbers behind and show the track numbers , they will clear the heads out. In both side: evo haters and fan boys.
For christ sake, every evo is an EVO! even the evo 1. Little news for the X fan boys. The X better then the IV or the I ? Yes . Makes it more EVO over them? NO , NOT AT ALL. Always that evo will win, wich have more money and job put into it.Period.
Drag race ? oh yeah? Here is the news for you:
The fastes evo in 1/4 miles is: ta ta ta ta EVOLUTION III. how about that?
the time is : 1/4 mile 8.230* 179.000 mph Mitsubishi Lancer EVO III 1995 Andre Simon

Guys get along and stop making god from the X and the other side get use to the X , because new line started the 3rd times in the evolution history, so you should be proud of that, and support them. And visa versa.

sorry i got away a little..

i think we (myself included) should keep general comments on X vs previous evos, not specific to vishnu's latest achievement, on BOOSTEZ thread. i think we all know which thread i'm referring to...

I'm very happy to see that Evo X ran a 12.6. Edmunds always seems to post such low numbers. Was the boost controlled with a MBC or Ecu based?

It will be exciting to see what other Evo Xs run across the country in the near future.

This thread is going WAY OT. Can we please stop bickering about stuff thats been beat into the ground already? Some people are still looking for information here, and not a soapbox to stand on.

I was wondering the same thing. the problem with the MR is going to be the same problem with the Nissan GTR's tranny. It will take alittle more time for the tuners to crack the ECU controlling the tranny, then the question will be how much torque will it hold before you run into reliability issues, In my oppinion the GTR and MR will be untouched for about a year after their release.
