COBB Tuning -- Definitely on the ball with the X, and GT-R !

not sure if anyone has noticed on the blogs but COBB is in the middle of developing lots of parts for the X, ones i know of are:

exhaust (dp, test pipe, catback exhaust)
upper i/c piping
turbo inlet house
sf intake
accessport engine management device
swaybars (springs?)

It looks like these guys put a lot of r&d into their stuff, perhaps thats why their not always the first ones to market

wicked excited, eventhough i dont have a X, well, if only the northeast (NE) dealers had on their lots or at least expecting a base X with no aero or no sss package, i would possibly be trading mine in right now/

enjoy

P.S. They are definitely ahead of everyone on development of parts for the new GT-R (yes they already have one, came in container a while ago)

How they offset the tips from the side to follow the lines of the bumper is very nicely executed, but I think I am still a bit partial to just two larger rounds. Will be interesting to see the final production pieces of their products for sure.

its the accessport, handheld device, they have had the X ecu in their posession before the car was available in us, so they are definitely deep into it, they also already have the 08STI under control and that vehicle uses CANbus technology to communication. i would say by fall in my guestimation, MR might be longer if they also have to control the tranny ECU

I'm interested to hear what they have to say about the role of the SST ECU. Think I'll send 'em an email.

So does the Accessport allow the end user any ability to customize a specific tune or does it only allow preprogrammed maps to be uploaded?

it can be used to load preprogramed maps but you can also load new custom maps onto it, i dont think you can modify a tune with the AP though

You can . . . after purchasing the Street Tuner s/w. Those changes will stick unless you reset the ECU. Next step is to buy the Pro Tuner s/w which will write more permanent changes. I think they may limit sale of the Pro Tuner s/w to Cobb-certified tuners, but I'm not sure. Also, AP might come out b/f the s/w is available, leaving you with only canned tunes in the interim.
