I'd give amsoil a try, been using it in my evo for 5k miles already and hasn't caused a problem. Here's a review post I've made about is as well:

If for whatever reason you do not like it, you can always switch out for something else........

I have supplied AMSOIL to many EVO owners from EVOm now and have been getting great reviews from them on less engine noise, oil lasting longer and smoother shifting.
Repeat business that I am getting is also a good sign.

I can't get into this to much as I might procede with legal actions, however, you guys do need to know that I was threatened, by none other than a Mitsubishi corporate case manager, with the possiblity of losing my powertrain warranty if I tried an aftermarket tranny fluid.
This has left a very bad impression of Mitsu in my mind. Even though corporate and the techline both state that Mitsu is experimenting with different tranny fluids, the official corporate statement is that the tranny is "behaving as designed"
Total BS.... I will most likely give them 6 months to remedy it, and then start looking for legal recorse.

They did NOTHING, by the re-direction of the Mitsu techline, which was the original team that decided to replace the clutch/flywheel.
I started a corporate case and spoke to a case manager who insisted their was no "official" issue and the tranny is operating by design, then proceeded to tell me how the EVO's in there possession exhibit the same notchiness, so there working on a new fluid. Contradictory, ya think.
I am very pissed at a company that feels there's only a problem if and only if there is a public statement from the corporate office itself, Fu(K, what the owners think.
While the problem is only annoying, they have pissed me off, and now it is about my legal rights, and there liability. Simply denying that a problem exists, does not mean it doesn't!

This is just a small paragraph from a lengthy subject...
There is a place on FTC.org where you can print out claim form...
Mits must have or be able to prove that any fluid was the cause of the damage.
While the Magnuson-Moss Act does not require manufacturers to provide a written warranty, it provides specific rules when one is provided. Among those provisions, FTC regulations state: (c) No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the Commission if (1) the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and (2) the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest. (15 U.S.C.2302(C))
