Redline MTL helped my shift feel, much smoother now

I just wanted to share my experience with a fluid change on my X. I had the Trans fluid changed about 2k miles ago, and the factory fluid was replaced with some mobil gear oil 75W90. Well, the shift feel was noticeably worse after that. It was getting pretty bad with the factory fluid, but it was almost impossible to live with after the fluid change.

After some research I decided that I needed to get a thinner fulid that was the same viscosity throughout a larger temperature range, because the shift feel would be improved when the trans was colder.

I decided to go with Redline MTL which is a 70w80 lube that is made specifically for manual transmissions. I am very happy with how it feels now. Total night and day difference.

If your sick of your shift feel and want it to be smoother, maybe you should try this stuff out. I was about 40$ for 3 quarts.

Hope this helps

I did the same thing. I put Mobil in and my tranny shifted like ****. I put redline in a week later and now it is like hot butter again.

I wish I could say the same. I put Redline MTL in about a month ago and it felt a little better at first but now its the same or worse. I'm at about 1400 miles and have had this issue since day one. I just wish I knew of a permanent fix even if I had to go inside the tranny because it's driving me nuts.

If you are in NY I think that your cold trans temps would be part of the problem when your start driving the car. Once you warm it up does it shift ok?

Every time I change my fluids the car shifts smooth. About a month or so later it starts to shift like crap again. New fluid helps for a short time. I'm sending out my trans to get built over the winter as a permit solution.
