Well when comparing a Evo 8 or 9 on the same set up people are getting 500 + WHP on pump right? Well how many have a AEM's? how many have built motors? or cams? about 99% of them! Ours is using stock ECU and its the first on stock motor, cams and on a mustang dyno! I promise after having the X for four years like the EVO8-9 there will be more impressive numbers to be had.

I have not found the X ECU to be as sensitive as the VIII and IX, though it still intervenes immediately. But its reaction to that knock is less aggressive in that its effect on the power curve is a lot more smooth. I suspect the knock algorithm is a little different (better) in the new ECU.

although I don't think that you could say the algorithm is better as this is yet to be determined.
It has a different way of reading, is it any better or worse? I think only time can be the factor to determine that. Longevity is really the best way to truly define which system is superior.
I do agree with you that it is a lot smoother in knock reduction vs power curve.
