Help! o2 sensor kinda died....

Help! o2 sensor kinda died....

okay so me and my friend are currently trying to install my test pipe and down pipe but we have come across a problem... we took out the o2 sensor on the test pipe but when it came out the threds are all messed up and now cant go onto the new test pipe. anyone know where they sell o2 sensors and what kind for the x? should i just have mitsubishi order one for me?

i heard some people had the same problem. wouldnt it be easier to just weld it onto the new pipe? just a suggestion.

we filed down the bottom part of the threds, we got it in but dont really know how well its gonna hold haha if it comes off i'll prolly just get it welded on.

jb weld! no, you can just weld it, but then when you want to go back to stock, you'll need a new one, and they aren't cheap.

If you need to later, try running a M18 x 1.5 threading die over the threads. Or buy a thread file with metric 1.5 pitch cutting face. OR, if really desperate, Home Depot / Lowes sells some very small files that are triangular which are used for sharpening chainsaw blades. I've used those to fix threads before as well. Sounds like you may have done something similar though anyway.

If it doesn't come loose, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The car should run fine even without that sensor. Just zip tie it up high under the car. The only problem is that the check engine light will stay on.
