so how do you get the trapped bolt out of the "O2" housing?

All you need to use is a flexible ratchet wrench. Half of this wrench has a standard open end, the other half is a ratcheting closed end which is on a hinge. You use the hinged ratcheting closed end. Very simple, problem solved. I've swapped my motor 3 times, I know.....
