Turbo Timer
Most new turbo motors don't need a timer on the stock turbo. If your concerned about it just watch ur driving before u park it and at worst idle it for 30seconds if u were pushing it.
I have one and only set it for 30 sec when daily driving.
P.s. You can't lock the doors with the remote while the car is running so if u do put one in lock them from the drivers door switch with the door closed, open the door and get out and lock it with the key from the outside

i usually do 30 sec. i got that number from the manual for the front end loader i drive at work. seeing as the turbo is bigger than the evo x's and the engine produces much more power i figured that would be a safe number.
now if i were to do drag racing and stop right after i would let it sit for 1 minute or more do to heat levels and such, but i have no real answer on how long to let it cool down after beating on it.
also a short light boost drive after much heavy boosting will also do the trick

I daily my ride, so my commutes are normally 35min in the morning and hour coming back home. I would drive normally i wont beat on it or redline it. With this type of driving I still would need the car to idle right and not turn the motor off right away.

if you don't mind waiting in your car for a minute or so while your turbo cools down you don't need to get one...period. There's a thread on this actually....either its for the Evo X or the 8 and 9 but the same concept applies. That's the "self" turbo timer route....my old timer had three settings 30 secs, 1 min and 3 mins....3 mins really aint that long and I think thats for hard runs at a track...I guess you would call it more of a personal preference (if you have the money or the "time" sorta speak)

I believe the manual says something about not shutting the car right off at the end of a drive. I dont remember exactly what it said but it did not give a time. I usually do a min for daily driving because its easy to look at the clock
. I would say if you dont mind waiting the min to let it cool get the time but its a min.....seems like the money could go to better things
anyways I would say IMO some time should be given to the turbo to cool under any driving condition.
1 min of my time is worth a happy turbo!
