We will be doing some formal testing of a couple of drop in's, one of which will be the HKS. Just waiting on the filters to show up. Should have the results posted in the next couple weeks.

If I'm not mistaken, the hks is oil-foam where as the works is oil-cotton. Oil-cotton should provide better filtration.

Still trying to locate a place the purchase a Green Filter for the X, I suspect it will perform the same as the works but cost about half as much.

Good to know Dyno4mance! I would like to see the performance results of a few drop-in air filters including WORKS, HKS, and a couple of others. HP gain would be nice, but not at the cost of letting in unwanted dirt ect. into the enginge.

MFQ Motorsports dynoed the Evo X stock at 225 whp on their Dyno-Dynamics Dyno. With the addition of the HKS Hybrid panel filter the car made 237 whp. The owner of the X also reported less hesitation or hiccuping at 5000 to 5500 rpm range.

My bad you said green lol. The HKS filter is green. I had no idea there was a green filter company.

I'm very interested in seeing these results - performance wise and the audible changes as well.

anyone realize that the hesitation seems to be mitsubishi tuning the car for 300 whp with "mods" then put stock parts on it... seems like moding the evo gets rid of almost all problems. Thats what im thinking.

In a way....you are right! Mitsu tuned these cars with the expectation that they were going to be modded. And as we know modded these cars usually "leans" them out, so they played it safe and added a ton of fuel.

Therefore, when we mod the car, it is still within safe driving parameters. Otherwise they would probably have even more warranty claims with people putting mods on, and not getting tuned the way they should.

Have they posted the dyno-charts showing the improvement? That's a pretty impressive improvement for a drop-in air filter....almost too impressive.

With the HKS filter, my MR made 247 WHP, up from 237. While the gain at the peak was only 5 HP, but further down the mid-range, the gain was over 10. So I consider this to be a very safe and worthwhile mod. The filter is literally a drop in install that took no more than a minute to do.

+1 Installed last night and took it for a quick spin. Power delivery seemed smoother throughout the entire power band, usually tough for me to feel 10hp gains. I'm switching to Works though as soon as I've used this filter up.
