Thumbs down

Sounds like a huge wreck waiting to happen. Make your car safe first , then worry about an extra five horse. IF you total your car or hit someone, your *** should be kicked! Use some common sense, no horsepower improvement is worth your life.

Put back in the air box. Aftermarket intakes will throw off the MAF sensor without a custom tune.

Just to follow up with this, I've been driving this whole past week with NO A/C on..... and the car is perfect! So, the A/C is leading to the horrible idling. I suppose the shield is the perfect fix, but is there one that's universal for most intakes? (seperate from an intake itself)

The tech at my dealer warned me against using an open air filter just because of this.

So I spent the extra bucks and went with the AEM box. No problems so far (just a couple days though).

i heard of some putting a box or something to block the intake from the ac fan that blows hot air into your intake thus causeing you idle trouble.

I actually have a metal plate from my 240 that ive put on mines it fits around the intake kind of like buschurs piece

well good luck and be safe about those dieing out problems

You dont NEED a tune to fix this, what you do need is something to shield the hot air from the fans being blown into your intake causing your maf readings to go wack... AMS does sell a shield now, and that is an option.

I actually have the same problem on a bone stock GSR almost stalling sometimes when at its worst but generally the rpms waver between 200 and 1100 really bad in neutral. This is in cold weather though, but after the engine is warmed up or even driving for an hour. The air conditioning is a big part of the problem.

My mazdaspeed 3 would do this. But i thought it had to do with the direct injection.

/\ ??

Not sure what you are asking, but the MAF sensor is adversely affected by hot air, affecting the idle stability.

Wow the same thing happened to me coming down a mountain I was in neutral going about 70 mph just coasting. Then there was a turn, I tried to turn my steering wheel and no power steering the car was off. I almost **** my pants. Good thing I was able to turn enough to miss the gaurd rail. I have been trying to figure out my idle issues for months, with no success. I have an ecutek tune and I have the most updated flash. The weird thing is when I'm up in the mountains the idle is stable and the car idles at about 900 rpm. The elevation is about 5000 ft and the temp was about 18 degrees F. If I could only get someone to tune my car to do what it does in the mountains my car would run right. I also think I need to put my stock intake back on.
