Grease sprayed all over brakes after clutch job

I wonder what that heated grease smell is, must just be the new clutch breaking in...
sigh.

Not really sure what to make of this, could be excess grease spewing out of the joint or could be ALL of the grease is now not where it is supposed to be. Looks like I'll be taking a trip to the dealership Monday morning. They installed it for a really good price but if they took shortcuts or messed a seal up they need to fix it!

These are the kind of things I dread seeing just before a trip to a road course, luckily I caught it 4 weeks ahead of time while installing some brake ducts.

Check your CV joint.

Yeah, that looks like the outter CV boot is ripped/damaged and leaking grease. Better change that boot before you damage the joint.

It's odd how I don't see where all that grease is coming from, the seals look ok and the CV joints feel good. I cleaned up most of the mess and I guess I'll see if there is any fresh splatter tomorrow. Either way I'm going to have them take a look at it on a lift and make sure.

Is it possible they packed too much grease in there and it just pressurized it's way out?

I've done countless CV boot jobs and I have never seen grease come out from over packing. Also that area doesn't get pressurized. When they change the clucth they shouldn't even touch the CV boot, they remove the shaft but the boot should stay in tack. Maybe they pried the shaft out of the hub with a crowbar and they punchured the boot.

Yup that's what came to mind too. They probably damage the rubber boot when removing the shaft. Good luck, i can see it now, <dealer> it was like that when we got it blah blah blah.

There is a CV boot kit from the deal. Look VERY closely at the CV boot. There is prby a rip in it.
