Turbo problems / Compressor surge?

Two problems thats bugging me

First problem
Scenario:
mid rpms (2700 - 3000) 5th gear cruising 55mph = ok
mid rpms (3000 - ....) 5th gear WOT 55mph> = Engine staggers/stutters/shudders for maybe 2500rpms and then builds boost normal
mid rpms (3500 - ....) 4th gear WOT 55mph> = Engine staggers/stutters/shudders for maybe 1000-1500rpms and then builds boost normal
high rpms (4500 - ....) 3th gear WOT 55mph> = Engine builds boost properly and takes off...

Second problem
Scenario:
Going slight uphill on-ramp... hanging on 4th gear to wait for a free spot to pass the car infront of me. If i adjust my throttle( 30 - 60 %) to catch up to the traffic the BOV sounds like a turkey gobbeling... It does not shut up until i release the throttle all the way or floor it. Seems like everything inbetween cuases the turkey sound

Someone told me its comressor surge. Someone said im running to lean/rich. Someone say that its normal for tuned cars and you have to use your gears better. I've got a ecuteck in it now.

Points at HKS SSQV BOV vented to Atmosphere...

Well the "second problem" would seem to point to a BOV that is too stiff to open at light throttle and low boost. When I crushed my Stock BOV it would do the CHOOO Chooo chooo choo choo noise of compressor surge if I got into 5-10 psi boost at 2500 rpm in 4th or 5th gear, then let off to part throttle. Releasing throttle completely or letting really slowly would never make the noise.

As for the "first problem" it could also be the BOV, I guess it depends if the HKS SSQV BOV is leaking at higher boost levels to atmosphere that could cause some major issues for the MAS. Swap in the stock BOV and see if the problem goes away. I actually set my boost in 5th gear at 3000-3500 RPM since that seems to be where it is nice and stable to read and will typically be the highest it will reach besides the normal 1-2 psi spike for a half second when you first get on the gas.

So far the Works BOV has performed flawlessly and while there is no fancy wooosh sound vented to atmosphere it does the job similar to stock with a stronger spring for higher boost levels. What kind of boost levels are you running these days? Try turning it down to 22 psi and see if the problems magically disappear. Currently I'm running strong on 22 to 26 psi depending on my dual MBC settings and haven't seen any of the issues you are describing.
