Direct fit High Flow Cats for Evo X

Who's got the best made, most affordable high flow direct fit cat for the Evo X? I have seen that UR makes one, and maybe a few others. But wanted some feedback on people who have them installed. Do they throw the CEL. I had a Random Tech high flow 3" cat on my Evo 8 and still had to run a fouler with it to keep the cat efficiency CEL code from showing up. Dont want to have the same problem with this car. Any first hand information is appreciated. Not going with a testpipe this time around, gonna stay Green like all the hippies.

Thanks,

Brian

All of our high-flow cats now come with the same built-in CEL fix we use on our Test Pipes.

Darryl, A couple of things: Dyno gains with OEM vs Ultimate HFC, what are emmisions under same comparison? i.e., will one get same emmisions with this Cat as OEM?

Not Darryl, but it's VERY unlikely that the emissions will be the same between an OEM and HFC.

Yea, this should be pretty obvious. You're trading higher-flow for reduced scrubbing capabilities. How big the difference between the two is, I think, the better question.

Well I am a little confused here. With a straight pipe/test pipe replacement there will be no post combustion of spent fuel. Now as one starts filling this area of the pipe with material that will enhance post combustion, one will get increasing back pressure which will result in lost whp. But that is with the same diameter pipe. Couldn't a larger Cat, larger than OEM but filled with post combustion material result in getting better flow than OEM but still pass emmisions?

I don't know if anyone knows, but the stock cat uses a metallic core.

Look at 6:00 in the Evo X service training video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RoxR6eZbgg
Some good info in those videos.

I'm sure you can still get a little better flow out of an aftermarket high flow cat, but the stock cat probably flows pretty well. Opening up the inlet and outlet on the stock cat to match the exhaust would be a good alternative to those who want to keep the stock cat for emmisions sake.

Has anyone had any experience with the AMS HFC? Not sure how well it matches up to other aftermarket exhausts and whether or not it throws a CEL.
