For those running test pipe, how bad is the smell?

Im debating whether to get UR test pipe or high flow cat, only thing that is holding me back on the test pipe is whether the smell of gas/fuel really intrudes into the cabin and makes daily driving unbearable.

Im sure many of you are running these on your car, any positive/negative issues?

i own the UR test pipe, smell isnt bad at all, you will smell it more than your stock exhaust caus there is no filter its just straight piping, but no smell inside the cabin maybe when you have your door open and you start the car you might get a slight smell but nothing while your driving. go for it

I def. noticed a smell! not when driving but more when at a light for a while with your window down or in the garage. But its not like someone farted next to you or anything. You just catch quick smell everyonce in a while.

im very sensitive to smells, when you are driving its fine, when you stop anywhere, put up the windows and close the vents, the smell will kill you.when you stop the car to get out, just wait a min. for the smell to clear the air.i think its worse than the evo 8/9.i have a 2yr old also,i have to be more cautious about it.

Have AMS test pipe. def. smell present with windows down or vents open when stopped but while moving it's clear. also, turning heat on will bring massive smell in. havn't noticed this with A/C. all in all i actually don't mind the smell, it reminds me of how sweet our cars are, lol. until the headache that is.

Double check that you don't have a gasket leak. You really shouldn't smell anything unless you walk behind the car while its running.

Yes, with a test pipe as long as the car is tuned well you should have no smell. A leak would could be the culprit. You won't smell it as long as you have a full exhaust as it goes out the back. Most of my cars have had straight pipes and I've never smelled it unless I was using race gas and at the track.

took advice and checked gaskets... no leak ... but i believe the deal is that i have upgraded everything from the turbo back into the stock exhaust/ muffler... O2 housing-down pipe-test pipe-stock exhaust. probably causing too much back pressure. have dual 3" inch on order from ultimate racing... will install and see if smell goes away.

Honestly, It's no louder than completely stock. Although, it doesn't sound good at all, IMO. From behind the car it actually sounds more like forced air flow than an exhaust. sounds pretty odd through the stock muffler. i had no intention on doing a full exhaust but after hearing what it sounds like, i went ahead and ordered one. BUT, since i seem to be the one of the few that is getting a strong smell inside the car, i may have to replace a gasket or have a loose fitting.... so who knows if the sound will change after this is worked out, doubt it would change much at all, but... who knows.
