Car back from dealer and im happy to say the MAF air flow sensor had failed. They were quite surprised with the way the car acted. Basically the SST was getting all the wrong signals sensing it was failing and losing torque and was shuting down. Im sure there is a more precise explanation but anyway. The engine idling all over the place and the hesitating and stalling e.t.c was off course all down to the sensor.

The dealer replaced the sensor at 0 cost to me.Very impressed with the service department and the pick up off the car and a call in the afternoon from Mit. Canada to check everything was ok with the dealer service and the pick up off the car.

Also talked to the dealer about modding and they have no problem with me fitting aftermarket performance exhausts and intake systems which i thought was pretty good to hear, flashing ecu he said though will instantly void the warranty.

Idling at 2200 means limp mode, probably hit the torque limiter since the MAF sensor went bad.

Glad it was fixed with no issues.

I actually heard of the exact same problem. Bone stock Evo (SST) and the MAF sensor went out. The quality of the MAF may be really crappy......

Glad everything worked out! And I'm proud of you for asking your dealer about flashing the ECU . Nice.
