UICP?LICP Aluminum VS STAINLESS Steel

Is there any differences between aluminum Vs Stainless Steel for UICP & LICP that most companies use?

There is also a difference in the heat dissipation. If you ever weld anything that is where it is very apparent, along with the weight difference.

Thanks everyone... I`m asking because ETS. & Ultimate Racing all use Stainless Steel, while AMS, Etc uses Aluminum piping for its UCIP/LICP. So which ones r the best, stainless steel or Aluminum, whats the difference in weight?

I dont think you will see any difference at all in 99 out of 100 tests of an aluminum vs a steel pipe in real world testing.

Go with what's the cheapest.

Aluminum = better heat dissipation and lighter

Stainless Steel = easier to to keep clean, more durable

Funny you ask this . About 4 years ago a VERY good friend I have actually tested that out in a lab . His results where a difference of +- .04 degrees in temp . In other words in real word conditions you cannot tell . If anything the main reason why you would want aluminum in your X is because you actually want to keep from adding extra weight to the car - more so in the front of an already very front heavy car

Exactly. Worrying about heat dissipation, etc... for this piece is wasted effort. The thing that I'd be asking about is fitment (i.e. how well everything "lines up") especially if you're looking to get a one-piece unit.

I would also look at what other products you plan on running. If you plan on buying an intercooler or turbo kit from the same manufacture, it might be better to go with 1 manufacture over another.

When you buy different parts from different manufactures sometimes they do not line up correctly. The good thing about the Evolution X is most people only run the piping 1 way, so you should be in luck. It's something to consider though.

We recommend going with steel over aluminum because of durability. You can tighten the clamps on a steel pipe as tight as possible without bending or distorting the pipe. If you try that on an aluminum pipe, the pipe may bend or warp, causing a leak. Aluminum is not bad by any means, we do build an UICP/LICP in aluminum.. It's the same price as the stainless steel upgrade on our site. Just be careful when tightening the clamps.

Good Luck! If you have any questions let me know!

Thanks,

Michael
