Noob with some parts questions!!

Okay noob here so please understand i did some searching and want to make sure before i mod my car i get the right/best parts.

Parts soon to be on order-

Z-chip
Hallman pro MBC
TWM short shifter
Forge WGA ( no clue on what spring most likely red )
Xtreme boost 02/dp with open dump
Ultimate racing testpipe

Sticking with the stock catback.

Now only question is what spring should i get with the Forge WGA and is the ultimate racing testpipe a good choice combo for the XB 02/dp open dump and stock catback?

In my opinion.
I would consider getting ecuflach or ecutek (I prefer a reflash over a piggyback type).
I would not get a MBC. Stick with tuning the car.

+1 (no offense TTP). Just so you know, as the weather changes, you'll need to adjust the MBC.

And if you get an MBC you for sure need a boost gauge.

Why not swap out the stock catback? It's decently restrictive and super heavy...

+1 with both!

ECU reflash is the only way to go, dont manually mess with boost unless you have an EBC and get it tuned for 2 levels. Getting rid of the stock cat helps, but a catback will probably net more gains.

well i dont want my car loud at all, i figure keeping the stock cat would keep the sound to a nice growl plus im not concerned by switching out the exhaust just for a few horses.

As the z chip has dyno proven gains and it will be tweak by my tuner along with the MBC so im not worried

ECUreflash has plenty of dyno proven gains too.

An MBC on this car isnt needed. The stock boost control is really pretty good.

We just tuned another Evo X from Miami yesterday.

Baseline 260whp

ZChip tuned 342whp/333wtq

There will be a review thread coming by the customer.

We have a downpipe/tp being released shortly that is stealth, allows you to run your stock catback and has excellent gains. At low boost we have tested it to +18whp. We will be running some more tests on it this week at high boost and provide detailed dynosheets.

The Hallman pro is a good boost controller.

You might also consider the Forge UNOS manual controller with lifetime warranty and locking clicks. The Hallman does not have these features.

The Forge WGA we would recommend you wait on. Get the ZChip and boost controller with gauge hooked up and try it out as it stands. If boost appears to be dropping off after the initial spike 2-3 psi, then you can slightly tighten your stock actuator turnbuckle. If moving to racefuel and high boost, then that would be the best time for a strong actuator such as the Forge.

We recommend the prosport line of gauges. Electrical 52mm with gauge ring.

We have never been a fan of short shifters. They make shifting harder and hence SLOWER. We would advise against it.

Check out some of the Evo X ZChipped cars we've turned out in the past few weeks:

The ZChip is the only tuning option available that is able to be tuned by the owner of the car or anyone else they designate.

Lets not forget also that the ZChip comes complete WITH A PREPROGRAMMED BASEMAP that averages about 62whp and much torque!

If You are thinking your exhaust will sound any better with just a test pipe you are wrong. I thought the same until after I did it. You will make some extra hp but it still sounds like stock.

Leave the WGA alone if you are not going to get a tune. You will throw a SES light like I do at times with it. Just going to remove mine untill I decide on tuning options. Have a testpipe with stock catback. Sounds same. More HP, no more sound, little more smell, lol. Im going with a CB. Not completely decided on which one as of yet, but for better sound, you will need. There is a couple threads with CB clips on youtube if you want to compare. Be careful some droooooone at highway speeds!

ditto on the droning. for that alone i'm going to keep the stock catback until i get thoroughly bored with it.

1 - No Z-chip. Get custom tuned - Ecuteck, Cobb, etc...
2 - No MBC. Not needed, as it can be adjusted through the tune.
3 - No WGA. Not needed at this point either.
4 - get a test pipe and catback. there are some quiet ones out there if you search. Perrin, T1R, HKS, etc....

Get rid of the stuff that doesn't mean anything. Keep it simple. Make MORE power, with LESS hassle and money!!!

I urge you to do both ways.....your way and this way. Then come back and tell us which way was better and easier....

If you really are a noob, this will give you less hassle, be more reliable, and never have to touch it again.

The ZChip will prevent the CEL from appearing on aftermarket WGA.

The ZChip is compatible.

First off you said that you want a quiet exhaust you dont need to keep the stocker. Greddy and a few others make great stealth exhausts that are quiet but have good gains and are much lighter.
About the Zchip I don't know from experience but from what I have read, people with the Zchip tend to see more problems vs those with a custom tune (cobb, ecuteck.) And i never have really trusted a piggy-back system.
And you really dont need the MBC as others have said the stock boost controller works great if you take the custom tune route. It does very well and can be bumped up a lot with a "pill"
Just my 2 cents

Keep us posted on your progress
