sick of HKS SSQV setup...

So I was waiting for my box of goodies from ETS to arrive yesterday and decided to toss the SSQV and go back to stock. I mean it is LOUD and is really fun (i guess) at first, but after a while you just want to keep the throttle open to avoid the whip crack venting.

So I pulled out all my piping and decided to do a really quick spray paint job on the pipes... nothing permanent, but just to get an idea of how it would look. I cut a ft long section of silicone hose and used it to extend the hks piping up to the inlet on my injen intake. Worked really well! Mind you, I will be coating the bov pipes at a later date.

quick and dirty pic (really dirty)

I had the HKS SSQV on my STi and I enjoyed it. I plan on picking it up at some point for my X. The limited edition black unit.

I tried both fins on my evo8. The gold fin makes a different sound, but it's just sound like greddy RS or what a BOV should sound. The purple one is no different than stock, but it might be how much boost you need to run in order to make a different sound.

It's one of the better BOVs actually, since it's impossible for it to leak under boost. Some people just don't like the whistling sound it makes, but you can always just take the fin out and that'll stop the whistle. I'm happy with mine, and I really like the sound it makes when it dumps at full boost.

It still has the same effect. Don't run VTA on a MAF equipped evo, its plain ol' fashioned rice.

I dont see why major tuners would use VTA on the x if it had negitive effects. I would like to hear from a x owner or better yet a x tuner. we all know what the 8/9 guys will say.

well i had a greddy type s vta on the x, and i loved the blow off, but the limp mode issues and compression surge just was not worth being able to drive the car the cay i want it, so tilli get the hks which sounds just like the type s, stock bov ftmfw, lol!!!
