I hear that AMS makes the best air intake for the Evo X. They make a cold air intake that pulls air from where your foglight is on the driver side of the car in the front. It apparently works really well and it is pretty loud. The only downside is that you have to take out your foglights and replace them with wire mesh inserts they give you.

Thats just the cold air intake version...

THey actually have 2 versions. One is the Performance intake which stays up top by the stock position, and from what owners say it does help with hearing the stock BoV and turbo spool. THe Cold air performance intake is the other which routes piping down to your lower driver side fog light location and requires you to remove your fog light if you actually want it to work properly. Only a slight HP difference advertised between the 2.

There are quite a few options out there however for the intake. Since the intake was designed so well on the X's, its not really necessary and if you get an off the shelf tune from any vender, they state that it is not compatible with an intake (due to making your car run too lean). Custom tune's should be able to combat this issue however.

yea i would like to keep my fog light. The only other problem is that i got my X used with 7k on it and the guy who had it before me put a crappy pep boys intake on it so i cant just put a drop in filter on it cause the stock air box isnt there.

If you want to keep your fog light, just ditch the pep boys and get this one:

I heard the AEM works well. However, i only suggest installing one while getting it tuned.

Um as long as you have some wrenches, hands, brain, and are a man you can figure it out. Nothing more than disconnecting some lines and loosening some clamps and screws. Maybe comes with instructions.

These cars are rather new, so I doubt you will have problems with screws, clamps, or connections. Shouldn't take more than 30min tops if you have the tools and some know how.

Why get it tuned when installing the AEM exactly? Obviously a tune will help any intake, but what have you heard with the AEM?
