Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Learn something new everyday

It's installed and running good. It grabs way harder than stock, you can tell when you engauge the clutch, there's a "shock" if you dump the clutch pedal. Release it slowly and it feels no different than stock. I actually expected the chatter noise to be louder since I've had a twin & tripple plate before but this one is pretty much silent. You have to roll down the window all the way and really try to listen for it to hear the chatter sound. The pressure required to depress the clutch pedal is slightly higher than stock but it's not heavy at all.

I really don't have time to test it since I'm getting my turbo (Dom 2) and cams (Cosworth MX1) installed this weekend. I just installed it in preperation for the upgrade.

And if you use a street disc (@ 450+whp), you'll never get into gear passed 6k RPM. But thats just my experience with ACT. Twin or Triple disc is the move if your planning on making decent whp and don't want to swap clutches/transmissions every 4 months
I had a act stage 3 on my dc2 and never had problems

Why has no one mentioned a southbend OFE stage 3 or dxd clutch? The DXD clutch was Amazing in my DSM.

well i'm guessin that the multi plate clutches reduce shock to the drivetrain and has more hold with less pedal stiffness i think, but i'm usin a rps max series 6 puck clutch for my evo 8

Ive recently upgraded the basics, full intake, full exhaust, brake lines, FMIC, piping, and BOV. The shop that I had do the work has lead me to believe that my stock clutch is going to go at any moment because of the upgrades. Ive been looking in to all the options. My plan is to put a tune on her and then move on to the suspension and wheels. I was given word that the clutch to go with is the exedy twin plate, others such as the ACT and so on, are harsh to the rest of the transmission, also passed to me was that the install of the suggested clutch is quite involved, some what on the same level of organic chemistry. Im looking for feedback.

We had our ACT 6 puck for about 21,000 miles and during that time we had MANY hard launches at the track and over 130 dyno runs . Most clutches fail because of poor install jobs .

Are you refering to mis-alignment and hanging the tranny off the clutch while installing?

Could you elaborate the elements that need to be addressed for a successful install? Appreciate your time.

Later, Ken

Well , not only that but I've also seen some shops install both the fly wheel and pressure plate and NOT clean off the contact surfaces which glazes the disc and shortens its life .

I would ask if the flywheel will be resurfaced.

Anyone heard of this and what is the overall opinion?
Will never again buy an ACT product. I was using the 6 puck sprung, clutch does not meet nor come close to the standard ACT claims it will, and will not honor anything close to its limited warranty. Thats my experience. That and $7 might buy you a coffee at starbucks.
