Evo X Clutch options.....
Evo X Clutch options.....
Clutch shot.....bottom line....
1. What clutch options are out there and what has worked well for others?
2. Single or twin, Bang for the buck options?
3. What should it cost to have the work done at a shop ?
O ya and the 5500 rev limit is not a wonderful launch feature, HAHA

Well there are a whole lot of clutch options out there you just got to research. Single vs Twin I believe has been debated before (I would do a search)
But ACT, Exedy, Cusco, RPS/Specialty X (Carbon/Carbon), Carbonetics (twin and triple), etc (there are others) all make clutches. It depends on what you want your final power numbers to be.

^ that's my goal as well, 500ish awhp, and 430-450awtq, on pump. To the OP, I've heard that generally, multi-plate clutches (twins and triples) last longer than singles and are far less harsh on our gearbox. Someone please feel free to chime in if that is inaccurate
From my experience, ACT is a transmission destroyer and always had lock out issues. That was one of the main reasons why i did the twin this time. I used a heavy duty with a 6 puck in my evo 8, and even tried the 6 puck sprung disc..i was changing tranny's like they were spark plugs..i also had a 6 puck on my 600whp integra..clutch would grab great but put a serious beating on the trans. And if you use a street disc (@ 450+whp), you'll never get into gear passed 6k RPM. But thats just my experience with ACT. Twin or Triple disc is the move if your planning on making decent whp and don't want to swap clutches/transmissions every 4 months

Less harsh, depends on which type. No cushion and no slippage = the more pounding on the gearbox. If you want to put less stress on the gearbox, be sure to buy one with spring dampers. I'm getting my Excedy twin metal (with dampers) installed as I type.
Danm this info , I have already ordered the ACT so wish me luck ,now just a matter of finding a shop to put it in... Correction, it was a Fidanza 4.3 anyone ran this clutch set up on an X yet that you know of ....how much trouble am I about to get into
