ETS Open Dump Downpipe and Intercooler Piping/3.5" Intercooler
Downpipe
Quality: The quality of the part is great. Definitely satisfied with the welds and overall aesthetics of the piece.
Install: The install sucked. Yes it was probably one of the most frustrating installs I have ever encountered. Well, actually... the install was relatively painless... the uninstall of the stock parts was horrid. I luckily had access to a lift and a shop full of tools so I had a sizable arsenal to help with the attack on the stock housing. The part fit very well. No exhaust leaks. It was very hard to get it in there and get the studs, flange, and gasket lined up, but nothing a little elbow grease couldnt fix.
Noise: Driving around town it sounds a little lower, but no significant changes. However, when you get on it... it sounds like a freaking banshee. The car opens up and leaves you with the biggest smile on your face (or a handprint when your other half is in the seat next to you). I have tried to get a sound clip, but it is hard to accurately capture the sound of it. I will try to see if I can get something in the next few days...
Gains: Noticeable added performance for sure. No dyno yet to show improvements over my baseline numbers.
I would take pictures, but there is about a foot of snow on my car.
Intercooler/Piping
Quality: The quality is great. The finish on the piping is awesome (I chose black) and the couplers are thick enough to transport hazardous materials. The intercooler appears stock with the stock mounting points and hangers, but is MUCH thicker and a bit heavier. I am very satisfied with the parts I recieved.
Install The install was very straight forward. The piping fit relatively well. I had some issues with the UICP bolting down in the stock location but it is in there tight enough so I am not to worried. The intercooler went in perfectly and fit like a glove. The LICP fit very well. One recommendation is to install the hose from the throttle body first and then connect the LICP to it second. The throttle body hose is reallllly hard to get on there and was the proverbial thorn in my side. Everything else went well...
Gains: Again, noticeable difference. My butt dyno was calibrated before testing and has been known to be fairly accurate in the past.
here is a very dirty picture of my engine... its the winter so bear with me...
