Can anyone comment on this? How does the pill perform on 93?

The 'boost pill' simply allows the stock boost control system to run more boost. On 91, we're just limited to the max boost we can run. I had to lower the boost around peak torque, 3.5k-4krpms on my VIII, because i was getting knock. I tried less timing, more fuel, nothing worked except turning down the boost.

get a stage 1 tuning running on 93 oct. Check the dyno forums, you'll see some cars with that set up with higher boost....

If you're interested there are few threads in the Dyno Results forum (started by the Bryan, the tuner in that Edmund's blog):

So whats the best option?

My tuner was talking about removing the boost pill instead of keeping it there or replacing it with the new one.

I need to do more reading on this subject

Bryan from GST did the tuning. They're very well versed in tuning Evos.

The boost pill simply allows the stock boost control system to run more boost. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.

Your fuel octane still defines the limit as to what boost level you can run.

i know. i'm just saying why would you look at edmunds for any advice to start with *shrug* and if i'm reading it right, they're doing the tuning with just boost pill and nothing else.

So why would my tuner be talking of removing the pill altogether? What does the stock pill peak at vs a new one?

it doesnt "peak" it simply allows the peak boost to be held longer. the boost is controlled via ECU.

Edmunds' Evo X has just about all the bolt-ons you can get (IC, intake, TBE, Cossie cams). On 91 octane, it's simply at the limit of the stock turbo where more boost does more harm than good. That's all.
