I agree that it sounds like something to do with the clutch/pressure plate assembly. You could've fragged the disk and now it's clunking around in there, it could be a spring from the pressure plate, it could be the the retaining clip (or whatever the hell it's called) that is sometimes problematic with pull type clutches and heavy duty pressure plates, it could be a number of things. However, I don't think it's the transmission itself because while you are stationary, none of the gears are moving. The layshaft will spin according to rpms, but I don't think that is where the issue lies and I can't think of anything else that would cause a noise like that. These are all just guesses at this point, but hopefully it turns out to be as simple and pain free as possible for you. Good luck man, and keep us posted.

Me and a buddy jacked the car up while it was running and popped the rubber off the access hole and no noise was coming out of the clutch/tob area. Noise was behind it in the transmission case.

this is weird but i do think it has something to do with the clutch since it goes away when you press the clutch in

If im not moving it goes away, but if im moving and push the clutch in it will still make the noise. My clutch and act flywheel with a new tob was just put in less than a week ago.

had the same thing happen to my integra. i was on the dyno and did a pull of about 15psi and as soon as the run was over i heard a similar sound. my heart dropped cause i thought it was my motor that blew up but when i depressed the clutch it went away. it turned out being the clutch. for your sake i hope its the same issue cause it will be much cheaper than a blown motor

If you spun a bearing the motor wouldn't have lasted the 100 miles ride home that you said you did. I would say its something in the tranny like you said.

There is a Helicopter in your tranny, give it back.

BTW- when are you going to have it torn down or looked at?

Check out my thread and see if you have the same problem:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ne-manual.html
I had same sort of symptoms, but the noise was different - kind of faint grinding, almost not noticeable.
I didn't launch my car as hard as you did, but there was some wheel spinnning in the snow.
I know another case of exactly the same tranny problem as mine (stock clutch, low mileage).
I wish your case is not that bad though...

Sounds like a bunk throw out bearing to me. You put a Mitsubishi one in when you did the clutch?

there you go, pull tranny off, change clutch,..
not to be confused with tranny/diff

Unfortunately I can't listen to your videos because I'm on my iPhone but from what I read, it sounds like a throw out bearing/clutch noise. Definitely not rod knock or you would hear it at all times. Drain your trans and tcase fluids if your convinced it's one of them. The answer will be in re fluid. Good luck
