It looks like a nice peice but $450 is kinda steep for an o2 housing dp. I'm complaining but I'll probably buy it. I would like to see these downpipes tested in various situations against the o2 downpipe with dump.

Does AMS kick butt or what!

I have a question though...

If I install this AMS DP to my stock cat pipe, is Stage 2 as simple as a pill change / or removal and a reflash to the Cobb Stage 2 map?

I'd like to keep my stock cat pipe for the "appearance" of staying within emmisions rules for my State as well as to minimize noise.

I do not see why the replacement of the OEM downpipe with AMS' will alter your current emissions. If the Cobb tune leaned out the A/F's, then adding a better flow with the new downpipe but keeping the OEM Cat should be similar to what you already have i.e., passing emission testing ... but I am speculating here.

Thanks but that wasn't really my original question.

I know just changing the DP won't alter emissions, and I want to keep my stock cat pipe for emissions "appearance" and to minimize exhaust noise.

I'm currently at Stage 1 (Perrin tune, HKS drop-in and Perrin CBE), so I was asking if I were to install this new AMS DP (keeping my stock cat pipe), how easy would it then be to go to Stage 2...just a pill change or removal and a reflash to an off the shelf AccessPort Stage 2 map that supports a drop-in filter?

At least I'm hoping it's that easy.

It's also a cast piece which has all the mounting points for the factory heatshields. The Works O2 housing for the VIII/IX was ~$450 IIRC.

Being cast, you do not have to worry (well, not nearly as much) about cracking; so I think this is the only logical choice for a DD car.

This combined with the Garrett turbo and Full-Race manifold would be one insane combination.
