The turbo on a X is a TD05H-152G6-12T. The IX's turbo is technically larger. The compressor wheel is smaller on the X. The turbine wheels are the same and the X has a larger hotside. I'm not sure about the compressor housing sizes. Another major difference is that the VIII's and IX's had reverse scrolling turbo's and the X is regular. I'm not sure what each turbo flows as far as CFM's go. I think someone said that the X's turbo spools up a few hundred rpm's quicker than the IX. But this could also be the 4B11, which makes more torque down low. Hope this helped.

I got these off the Tomei Powered website (http://www.tomeipowered-usa.com/usa/...7960/m7960.htm towards the bottom of the page)

I know the JDM Evos come equipped differently than USDM Evos, but these should be the correct turbos for USDM.

Evo VIII - TD05HR-16G6-9.8T
VIII MR - TD05HR-16G6-10.5T

Evo IX - TD05HR-16G6C-10.5T
IX MR - TD05HRA-155G6C-10.5T

Evo X GSR & MR - TD05HA-152G6-12T

So what do we call our turbo? The 152G? Its clearly not a 15G or a 16G.

I'm pretty sure the X's turbing housing is 12mm. Because of the 12T at the end of the turbo name. The IX's was 10.5mm, etc.

All '05 VIIIs got the 10.5 "MR" housing.

I guess it follows that the first Evo to not use a 4G63 is also the first Evo to not use a 16G.

Basically up to about 20 psi it's really good for the street, unfortunately it just won't hold boost beyond that at higher RPM's limiting it at the drag strip or any time you are rowing the gears. I think the previous generation Evos had a better stock turbo with it's larger compressor side and similar exhaust side as it could hold 2-3 more PSI at high RPM at the cost of a little spoolup. Couple that with the Evo X being a heavier car and I think they went backwards for turbo selection. Luckily the aftermarket has come to the rescue!

Off topic question but what kind of turbine housing flange does it have?

You're probably right but I got the specs from here.

Are you refering to the stock housing? Here's a pick of the Blouch Dom 2.0 which uses the stock housing.

Would a DSM turbine housing fit on there if its the same td05h? from the looks of the second pic, it looks like a clamp on style housing.

This is a bit off topic, but I couldn't find any place that has mentioned this before. Yesterday I ran into an EVo driver at a bank drive thru. We got talking in line...lol, of course, and he asked me if I knew "the" way to turn up the boost on the stock turbo without going into the ECU. He said he had met some other evo drivers who said it could be done and who apparently did it. I've never heard but his explanation was vague. Said there is some screw thing to turn up boost and squeeze out 30-40 hp. Does anyone know of this?
