Is there any particular reason why JDM intakes come with a shim/spacer to mount the MAF adapter further out? If so, did you guys install it or leave it out? If you intalled it, did you feel any adverse effects?

I just picked up the Blitz Carbon Suction intake kit and it comes with that spacer. I drove the car to work and didn't notice any idling issues... any insights GREATLY appreciated.
