we never took the lid off. but the fact that we got huge monster gains as is. I think thats the way to go with the lid on. Noise wise I think it will be a minimal increase in sound.

I personally have my Injen SRI and combined with my HKS Hi-Power catback exhaust produced pretty good gains after I got it custom dyno tuned by MRT in Sydney. Considering getting something like the Buschur Racing Air Filter Shield to cover the pod (but not sure if it'll fit) since exposed pod is illegal here and I don't want to get in trouble with the local authorities over it, or maybe considering switching to either the AEM CAI or maybe even the ARC induction box.
