Magnaflow Cat-back - More Info?

Does anybody have more info on the Magnaflow 16823 cat-back? They have it up on their site showing in stock, a few retailers have them, but there are no product photos anywhere. I'm interested in buying one once I see a photo of the actual exhaust.

From the video clip from Magnaflow on StreetFire, it looks pretty good from the back.

Does anybody own one of these yet? I'd really love to know before I buy one.

damn what a coincidence! i was going to post a thread on this yesterday, since i was looking through all options for a 3" dual exit exhaust that's almost as quiet as stock. i tried to dig for info too, but came up with nothing, other than someone in a quebec forum saying it's quiet i'm more interested in seeing how they fabricated the bottom pieces, because if it's anything like the buschur one, then it's pretty loud.

Well their product info page says it's 3" diameter exhaust tubing with a 5x8x18 dual-exit muffler. Which would be... maybe this one? http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7976 P/N 12288

Or maybe this: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7972 P/N 12278

Either way, it's very quiet from their videos. I'm just wondering if the muffler is under the middle of the car, mounted longitudinally; or at the back, mounted transversely, with one of the tips snaking around. Hard to tell.

if only they had some underbelly shots what i noticed (the hard way) is that even if it sounds quiet in videos, it can be very loud in person, because you can control the volume on your media viewer of choice, and you would never know if you're hearing the volume exactly as it should be. you can hear what it sounds like, but not whether or not it will tear your ear drums apart.

on the flip side, it's probably the cheapest dual exit cat-back option there is out there, and magnaflow is known for good value. if only i had a bit of extra cash to burn i'd jump into it, but i'm currently strapped

A couple guys on evoxforums ordered this set up from Summit Racing. Said shipment would take a couple of weeks. Still waiting.

Summit can drop-ship if you call them. They are VERY helpful over the phone. Otherwise, they wait until they get a shipment on hand and ship from their own warehouses. Which can take, oh, forever.

From: Tx,
for some reason mostly they are not impressed with this magnaflow.... there is no growl on that exhuast. too quite. magnaflow should sound like magnaflow.

Huh? Who is they? I've yet to see a well-made video clip of this exhaust. If it's the muffler I think it is, it should be a lot louder and more distinct that in Magnaflow's own video.

I'm buying it because I think it'll sound superb once I add a catted test pipe and full downpipe to the system. Anything else would be just a little too loud for my taste.

could you take pics please? i can more or less gauge whether or not it will be loud by what kind of canister it has at this point.

I'm not getting it for a month or two. But when I do, I'll photograph the **** out of it.

I'm 99% sure it's one of the 2 Magnaflow mufflers I linked. Both of those should be fairly "open" and loud. I mean, not in comparison to a JDM canister muffler, but still aggressive. I don't think their video does the exhaust justice.

I still want to know who "they" are so I can find somebody who has covered this exhaust. Can't be too much longer until a bunch of people have one, it only costs $550.

I think it would be better for Magnaflow to design one that is similar to the stock one.

But we have to wait for pictures.

The regular 08-09 Lancer one looks like this: http://images.magnaflow.com/02produc...s/16822_lg.jpg

I'm willing to bet the Evo one is similar.
