NAME THAT SMELL A week of clutch smell
Hey First post here!
I have had my car for a couple weeks now and it has just a little over 3k I would say by now. For the past week or so I have been smelling that metally clutch smell.
Its like it is non stop I can go away from the car for an hour come back and smell the drivers side hood vent and there is it... Has anyone experienced this? Have I fallen victim to a ****ty clutch. I really truthfully have not even beaten on this car... was going to bring it the the strip this weekend but I dont dare, and I have an appointment to get it looked at on monday, but the service guy made comments such as "been beatin' the pants off it haven't ya?" and "Sometimes new clutches do that"... Any help would be great!
LOVE THE CAR BY THE WAY!!!

My car did the same thing as well for the first few weeks. Seems like a new car thing. My car did it, and my brother's 07 Civic Si did it as well when he first drove it. After a while it goes away.
sorry, but this has really been an annoying re-ocurring topic.. that just leads to myths and rumors about how crappy a clutch is. sure the clutch isn't the greatest. sure it could be better... but it is decent, and should not burn out after only a few thousand miles as a daily driver. also should not smell for a week unless it's constantly being slipped. the smell of the clutch is due to driver error, period. notice a trend with people saying "yeah, I had it in the beginning but it went away" as mentioned above. right, that's cause some people need a learning curve when driving a new car. others, just never learn.
so... practice better clutch work people.
I'm at 24k with plenty of bite left.
didn't smell clutch at all for the break in period. of course i would if launched.
