Was just on Mitsubishiparts.net looking for a fuel pump relay, had no luck is the relay just a non specific relay or is it only for the fuel pump? Chris (AMS) said he switched relays with the DRL so Im assuming any relay will work...

So how often should we change this relay?? just to be on the safe side.
I wonder how do you make an issue a TSB? File a petition to mitsu? I think there has to be numerous complaints/incidents before they look into this....

Try to yank it out. It might just pop out from its harness. Idk, I'm at work right now so I really cant verify.

There should be a sticky made with a WARNING in the title about this. This is a very serious problem for the Evo X that owners MUST be made aware of. This might lead, if it has not done so already, to a lot of blown engine.

I am very proud of Spunky. He took the bull by the horns and figured it out. I love people like that
Just saw the AMS thread on it too.
Great work you guys. I will stick it and title it whatever you'd like.

So it sounds like Mitsubishi tried to save on warranty claims for the fuel pump and as a result possibly losing engines to it.

In the DSM world, we'd rewire the fuel pump using the original relay as the trigger. Perhaps this is what needs to be done here? No actual wiring, but rewire the output of the low and high to a separate relay that will just turn on the pump at full voltage regardless. But if the relay fails, does that mean the fuel pump will keep running even when the car is off? Or it'll pop off when the key is in the off position.

Oh noes LOL, I hate to constantly check this... I wish there is an ECU logging parameter that can check voltage conditions of the fuel pump and other vital electrical components of the car.

who is the manuf. of these relays, surely they have done some reliability testing on them. It should typically take at least 100k cycles before they get stuck...if its a good brand
