best turbo options for 0-60

Hey guys - I apologize if this has been beaten to death, but my searches didnt bring anything up (though my search-fu may be crappy, in which case - sorry).

Anyway, I am looking at upgrading my GSR a bit. Now, I only drive on the street - sure I might see the track every year or two, but thats it - so huge HP numbers and top-end are great, but not the most important things for me. What I want from this car is spine-crushing acceleration.

Now, I see those FQ-400's are pulling sub-4 second 0-60 times. This is what I want. I keep worrying that the FPRed or the other aftermarket turbos I'm seeing will put down big numbers, but wont do me any good for what I'm looking for. So I ask you guys: What is the best turbo option available for a crazy fast 0-60 time. Is it a tuned/ported stock turbo with supporting mods? Is it an FP Red? Let me know what you guys think.

As you increase the turbo size, it is harder to drive it quickly off the line until you reach 3rd gear. That said once you learn how to accomodate the extra lag, the car flies through the gears now and is an absolute demon getting on the highway or twisty road.

Sounds like a full bolt on stock turbo setup, maybe with cams is your best bet if you are mostly just using it for street driving. You will have killer low end torque with Mivec changes and top end power will still be respectable. With good driving Low 12's @ 112 mph performance or so which should be similar to the FQ-400.

yeah, I worry about the clutch too.
One of my favorite things about the X is how livable it is. My wife's old IX had an ACT clutch in it that was a nightmare to deal with day-to-day. I DD this beast, so I dont want to kill myself in my daily commute.

she keeps telling me to just buy another Lotus, lol

thanks for the input guys!

The cams should help alot, also steepspeed is coming out with a new bolt on exhaust manifold, which will hopefully help the stock turbo guys spool faster and have lower EGT's.

I just have stock turbo (IX), clutch, manifold, TBE, cams and alcohol/tune, monster 0-60
keep lag down staying w/smaller turbo and practice practice practice!

I'm interested in this as well. Does anyone know what advances were done to the fq-400 to get it in the sub 4 second range?

Hopefully, I know I am going to be keeping on eye on that manifold

I dont mind going the cam route at all - is there a specific variety that you guys would recommend for my purposes?

so much conflicting information on them here, it is hard to sort through!

the fq 400 has a better tune, i believe a slightly different turbo, lighter wheels, a better clutch, and other minor things. all you really need is basic bolt ons with a tune and you should be around the fq 400. put your car on a diet and that would help too

SUPER STREET SETUP:
Basic Bolt Ons
Meth/Water Injection on the stock turbo
THEN (if you aren't satisfied)
Cams

You will definitely need a clutch with greater holding power.

Check out some numbers here:

What kinda diet? What dieting can you do with a X and keep it as a DD?

Lightweight rims, like the volk te37's. Shave almost 35-40 pounds of unsprung weight. Single exit turbo back will shave 40 pounds of sprung weight. That will be a good diet.

So te37s weigh like 13lbs each then?
