Hey guys I've been searching around and I haven't found a thread that specifically outlines the different stages of modifications for the evo x....can someone help me out? If there is a thread, could you link me?

If there isn't a thread...then I would like to know which modifications are worth while for this car...and which ones are not.....so far from my readings, a bone stock car should start off with a tune....cobb ap or equivalent...that would net 40whp....everything else seems to be in the 15whp range...like intake, o2 downpipe (aka widemouth) and catback....what about the stock FMIC? how much hp is it good for until the core needs replacement? what about UICP/LICP, worthwhile mods?

Any info is greatly appreciated....also if you have any input in regards to suspension, sway bars, motor mounts, etc....I would like to know as well...basically I want to know whats *****ty on this car and by replacing it, I would get great gains

Thanks again

Stock FMIC is fine for the stock turbo, replace the UICP, replace your Intake, Full Turboback Exhaust, all of these will get you up to about 350 HP on a good tune. LICP is fine, will not change performance at all. Search will get you a lot of results, also browse around the evo x turbo drivetrain subsection, you'll find a lot

what psi is the stock BOV good for?

also, is the stock catback restrictive for bolt ons and tune? i'm not planning to go big turbo and cams...just wanna do all bolt ons but keep stock exhaust...I was wondering if its restrictive?

thanks again!

Here is one of our for sale threads, but it has a ton of dyno results. You should find this information pretty helpful when modding your vehicle. We already did the testing for you!

This is an awesome thread, never seen it b4.

Will say some of that info is more oriented to VIII and IX though. For example, (from what I have found out here) when it comes to inter cooler piping its opposite for X's. The UICP is a must change and the LICP is more "optional".

Some simple bolt on mods will help you alot. Depending on where you are in California, there are some very good tuners that can get good numbers out of your mods. I'd suggest only get a tune after you've done the bolt on mods that you have in mind.

yeah thats why i didnt find this thread in the first place...it was in the evo 9 and below section...and of course, evo x uses t he 4b11t...totally different engine than 4g63...thats why i never bothered looking in the evo 9 and below section...

i was just hoping for an evo x only thread...with all the FAQs...guess not at the moment

That mod thread is backwards in terms for the intercooler piping. On the Evo X, it's the UICP that yields the better spooling not the LICP. Other than that, the thread is accurate for Evo X.

Don't forget about bigger injectors, X's maxout stock injectors after most bolt-ons.

I have an FP Red and still running stock fuel system at 24 PSI. I also have full turboback, IC piping and 4 inch core so I wouldn't say that injectors are a must. We'll see after I add cams. For someone starting off, I'd say a full turboback and a reflash is your best place to start.

---Basic Boltons:

Turboback Exhaust which will save a lot of weight and be less restrictive. (including turbo outlet/downpipe combo)

UICP which will add some power and help spool the turbo a bit faster.

Stock intake is fine until you reach 400+whp ranges though you may want to throw a K&N or a Works high flow filter.

A larger FMIC will give you added and more consistent power.

You can get an MBC or just get tuned with the stock EBC as most tuners are typically pretty good tuning with the stock EBCs.

All above mods were mentioned with the intention of getting tuned after. That is the most important mod, the mod which will get you the most excitement out of your Evo X hands down.

---Things you do not need until going bigger turbo:

BOV
Injectors
LICP
Intake

--------------
Happy modding!

thanks! very informative reply...i really appreciate it!

question, is it hard to take off the bumper on the evo x? I might just go fmic depending on how much of a pita to remove the bumper

i also read somewhere that running MBC without a tune is bad for this car? is there a particular reason why? i know on the older vehicles you could run MBC all day and gain 30whp no problem

The bumper removal is not bad at all. There are a couple step by step threads.

Thanks,
