ACT 6 puck sprung

Hey all, im looking into getting a clutch, this one seems pretty nice to me but I am wondering how bad the chatter is and how tough it is for DD. I dont care about pedal being hard to push down, and i am probably not going to have over 350 to the wheels. So who has this clutch in their X and how happy are you with it/experiences? I know theres threads like this but im looking for just people with X's and this clutch and what they think of it.

I've had it for about 13k miles now. It's stiff... and it sucks a bit for bumper to bumper... but it also takes the abuse way better than the stock clutch.

So if you could do it again woudl you still go with the ACT 6 puck or would you opt for something else?

I have the ACT 6 puck also and its doesn't chatter alot and is pretty stiff and a PITA to drive in traffic. Also I have heard that the slave master cylinder seems to break easily because of the damn pressure plate of the clutch. I know since mine broke not too long ago.

No, I would not because I hate the stiffness of it and I would look into probably a SPEC stage 2 or some clutch along that line. The one positive on the ACT 6 puck is that you get higher and quicker engagement. Hope this helps.

what did you do with the master cylinder? I heard about getting an evo 9, and that works great?

Well, I really had no choice but to go to the dealership and get a new one since their wasn't a credible shop in my city. So they got me a new cylinder and gave me a one year warranty on it. And yes, I heard about the evo 9 to X conversion, and it seems like a good idea but I really don't want a stiffer clutch.

The quicker you can shift - is traded off for smooth operation.

You simply can not have both.

OK, noobie here. What is the difference between a sprung clutch and an unsprung clutch?

The springs allow the disc to slip a bit when engaging. An unsprung puck is like a light switch...track-only unless you are quite insane.

If i were you i would honestly just go twin disc your plans for more power might change in the future. My next clutch is defiantly going to be a twin disc.

I have the ACT HD Street Disc and Streetlite flywheel combo sitting in my garage. I am still on my stocker at 35k miles... But I agree. Probably upgrading the CMC might be a good idea. A street disc hold 508 ft. lbs I think it should be enough for your 350 wtq car... if you plan on staying near that power level or even slightly upgrading. I ran a street disc ACT in my other car, never had issues with it.

i have the sprung 6 puck hd disk. i love it. it is more of an on off switch. i am still on my stock cmc with 5k miles. i do have a magnus cmc in the garage for just incase. i love mine. for the price and hold TQ, it really cant be beat. it holds more power then the exedy twin, alot less in price. mine does not chatter. i have zero issues with it. it does however take some getting used to maybe even learning to drive manual all over, but i am used to it, and love it. if you were closer id let you drive mine to let you decide. now it didnt get smooth ashifting till i had about 1k miles, not sure why. i broke it in asw directed for the the first 500 miles then gradually started to get on it.
