sound in gearbox

i've noticed a noise coming out of my car's gearbox when i drive slow and leave it in 1st gear & hold the clutch, sounds exactly like when a manual car reverses. and that's only in the 1st gear & holding the clutch. my car has only 2000 miles i haven't visited the dealer yet. did that happen to you?

thx

Sounds like theres something wrong with the gears; like they are worn out. Probably a manufacturer defect considering how new the car is. Have it warrantied.

Well, if you modded it and and the gears are shot, I hope you have some money saved up...

thats your turbo whine. That is normal. You won't hear it as more road noise is introduced as you are driving faster. Typically in 3rd gear and up.

as per the dealer ,they still didn't make any parts for the gear box, so they think that i should replace the gearbox as my car is tuned & i lost the warranty

Get a second opinion if possible, or drive another X and see if it does the same, then you'll know if it's normal. These cars make noises, and it can be tough to tell which ones are normal and which ones aren't. Naturally the dealer will tell you, "your warranty is shot, we need to replace the gearbox" because they'll be making a ton of money off of you. Of course if they're right, you're SOL.

you didn't bother to read the posts in this thread did you?

drive it until it breaks...maybe by then shep will have something out for the new evo's. i bet the mechanics at the dealer are just scratching their heads and counting the money you would have to pay for a new gearbox.

man, i have this EXACT same issue with my car. its definitely my gear box, when the clutch is engaged and im slowly rolling and put it into first it whines really high pitched until it goes into first gear..then when driving in first gear if i decelerate in 1st gear it does this very very high pitched whine, almost like its in reverse. problem is i have an act 6 puck and im afraid warranty is going to say thats what caused it, any ideas?

sorry to resurrect an old thread just need some help here. could it be a clutch issue?
