Estimates of the temperature of stock turbo & downpipe?
As the title says, I'm looking for any information anyone has on the temperature of the stock turbo and attached downpipe.
I am looking to get a temperature insulation coating on my AMS dual tip exhaust, and the coatings come in several forms, with the top two usable in environments up to 1700°F and 2000°F.
So I am wondering which of these two, if at all, I can use in my situation.

Probably hitting upwards of 800C after the turbo.
Personally, I would get the full exhaust coated. Reason? Have you seen how much heat shielding is on the stock exhaust? It runs close to some bearigns and whatnot too. I imagine it's there to improve reliability.

I highly doubt it. I don't think it would be improve much to justify the cost of doing it. People have been running customs exhaust for years on EVO's with no extra coatings and no ill effects.
I found this post from Perrin that has numbers in it showing a range up to 1700°F. Look about half-way down the Perrin post.

The real question I have is how much of this 1700 is bled off by the time you get to the downpipe - is it realistic to think it would drop to 1300 or so by the time it gets there?

I like max reliability

Yeah, I agree - it's starting to look like I won't be able to do anything. JetHot needs 7-10 days to actually do the work, and I have ot add shipping time for each direction. Given that, there is no way for me to get it all back and installed before my 11/20 appt. at HBSpeed to get the car tuned.
In the end though I guess it won't matter whether I have the exhaust coated/wrapped or not. The difference in power/performance is probably not noticeable daily driving.

yeah, I don't think it'll have any measureable affect on performance. I'd only do it from a reliability standpoint.
