Question Clutch Problem?

Last night I tried to use the launch control for the first time on my new clutch. The clutch is a Clutch Master FX300, and has about 5000 miles on it, so I know its passed the break in period. When I tried to launch it, I got the burnt clutch smell(expected). After a couple tries, smoke came from under the hood. I decided to go home and check it out. Nothing was burnt. Im guessing it was the clutch. I let it sit over night. This morning I got in the car to go to the store and it would not go into gear, none of them. I turn the car off, put it in reverse and tried starting the car. It would not turn over and the car starting moving backwards, with the e-brake on. I toke the e-brake off, held the foot brake in and tried to start the car again. It almost start, than stalled out. I attempted again and it started up finally and went it to gear. On my way to the store I got on it to see if the clutch was slipping and it wasnt. It drove and shifted fine. Anyone have any idea why it was doing this and/or what it was? Thanks a lot in advance.

When you launched did you hear any popping, griding, or other abnormal noises?

sounds like the clutch was engaged when you tried starting the car, which was causing the engine to have to try to turn over under load. Something fishy with the master cyl or maybe causing the TOB or pressure plate to stick?

BTW, between your launches, did you give it time to cool down? Did you drive a bit, taking it easy, to get some airflow over the trans? If you did a few hard launches back to back to back, then the heat built up could cause something to fail immediately or cause damage that wont show for +1k miles.
