Staved it just enough to damage the bearings, causing some excessive shaft motion. That in turn damages the seals on the shaft to allow oil to leak by them. One possibility among others. If you take apart the turbo, you can see discoloration due to excessive heat on the shaft if it was oil starved.

Thank you for the insight. Not to sure what happened. Just took the turbo out today, and am having it shipped out tomorrow to Blouch for evaluation. Im super bummed about it, and have a feeling that its going to cost me out of my pocket for something I didn't do. I did not install the turbo, so...couldn't tell you exactly what happened other then the turbo took a dump.

Well... I know this from experience unfortunately on my Nissan. I drove it long enough though that the bearings got absolutely trashed and broke the turbine wheel off! It ended up in my cat

The car made great power (330whp on 91 @ GST Motorsports) all the way up until the Dom 2 took a dump. Should have waited for the CBRD turbo.
We had one fail in the same way after about 1,500 miles, smoking like mad. Also had a BBK for earler model fail n about 10miles on my mates car... CBRD didnt want to warrant repair as far as I know and he now runs tomei arms turbo. Im running the fp red with no problems to date and making more power...

Go With FP RED

I'm in the process of installing a Blaqops Double Pumper and 2400cc HIAG Injectors running E-85 on the RED.

35PSI on the RED on E-85 should get very interesting!

The turbo in question was supplied by coordsport in the u.k and installed and mapped by the racing line also in the u.k. The turbo came back to you not so long ago. As far as my mate is aware you guys blamed either supplier or mapper for the failure that occured after about 10 miles and coordsport left red in the face offered my mate a Tomei Arms unit at no extra cost to him... He is over the moon with the tomei product and the car is running sweet. I dont know if you did repair the turbo FOC in the end but I suspect not having spoke to a few people involved in the whole dilema.

With regards to my DOM2, that also failed however i must admit when it was fine it performed amazingly. I had a magazine feature the day after it failed so had a turbo company open it up and see the damage. I didnt send it back as I knew it had been opened and you guys probably wouldnt want to know. I got hold of an FP RED and made the feature in the end after working on the car untill 3am...

Hey GUM,

Did you get an O2 Downpipe with your RED?

I just bought the AMS 02 Widemouth Downpipe, I think that will help a lot.

I run fp red, o2 housing and forge actuator... currently at about 430-440whp on dd rollers, Shoot 44 mode so no correction factor cheating crank hp is 575 and we should be in the 600's with e85

Below is my o2/downpipe combo which is made by The Racing Line in the u.k, notice no flexi joint... the right way to do it

AMS products are ace and changing o2 housings is a good move with a bigger turbo, the below picture shows the taper down on the stock unit compared to a 3inch item:

Kind regards,
GUM
