Rebuild @ home?
Hey Guys,
I want to know more about being able todo this MYSELF at home.
Me and my dad rebuilt a '76 civic like 20 years ago, but it didn't run properly.. lol
Obviously this is a massive topic, but if one was to try it - what would be some good things to think about?
Say I wanted to do rods+pistons? What sort of tools would I need?
micrometer?
honing tool? are those drill attachment ones ok or just a joke?
Cheers

You can do anything at home that you could do in a "shop". It just might take longer. I always prefer to do all of my own work. Even if it costs me more in the end. I like to know that I am the only one to blame if anything goes wrong... I also like to know that no shortcuts are taken.
But yes, I bought a good micrometer set, ring filier, snap gauges, Plastigauge, good piston ring compressor, etc.
The learning experience is the best part. Especially when you really get good at mic'ing you journals for bearing sizes, etc.
